Walls
Project Description
Walls
The program for the project calls for five different types of walls: one recreation of a certain architectural piece, a reinterpretation of that piece, a wall that has two different sides, a wall that has a straight line on the top and a curvilinear line at the bottom, and finally a wall of your own design. The architectural piece that two of the walls are related to is the Thermal Baths in Vals, Switzerland by Peter Zumthor. The third wall is a wall that has a curvilinear face and an interior space that create a visual aesthetic as you walk by the wall. The fourth wall is a wall that has a straight line at the top and a curvilinear line at the base. This contrast allows for nooks and crannies to appear allowing for different programs to inhabit the interior and exterior of the wall. The final wall is a curvilinear form that is copied along a line at equal distances. As each wall progress through the linear pattern, each different piece is rotated three degrees in order to make the wall appear as if it is moving.
