Project Description

NORTHERN LIGHTS VIEWING ROOM - ICELAND DESIGN COMPETITION

The Northern Lights Viewing Room project was a quick 5 week Iceland Northern Lights Room competition sponsored by the Bee Breeders Architecture Competition Organizers. The goal of this project was to include contextual, programmatic and aesthetic concepts in to a more central conglomerate,

our idea more accurately reflects the importance and history of the landscape

through material selection, programmatic choices, and site significance. By integrating our

design with substantial glaciers and volcanoes across Iceland, we can begin to establish a timeline

that reflects the historical formation of Iceland, which has influenced the traditional architectural

practice and culture which currently exists there. Additionally, by repetitively exploring these

values through site, program, and material palette, we can design a structure that is more closely

tied to the native roots of The Land of Fire and Ice.
