Poolscape
Project Description
Poolscape
The program calls for a poolscape that is home to eight different pools: a collection of hot, warm, cool, and cold pools for adults and children. There also needs to be a locker room for men and women, restrooms, and circulation between the pools. As the design process began, I intended to separate the pools by the temperature of the water. The warm pools would stay in sun, while the structure holding the warm and hot pools would create a cavernous space that would house the cool and cold pools. I aimed for the structure holding the hot and warm pools to appear to be floating in the air and have a form that appears like a cloud and natural landscape. This landscape would cause the circulation areas to form by the pulling of the form and the natural curvilinear shapes of the form when stretched and shaped. The four central points of the structure house the vertical circulation, restrooms and locker rooms. The three points on the edge of the structure are where more circulation will occur, creating a procession to the warm and hot pools.
