CULTURAL CONNECTIVITY - ACSA STEEL COMPETITION CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM

White River State Park area contains a conglomerate of civic structures with varying uses and  languages, ranging from museums to schools, and libraries to green spaces. This design celebrates this eclectic architecture by viewing these different buildings as exhibits within a larger, teen gallery: White River State Park. With this mindset, this contemporary art museum features different hierarchal tiers of exhibits: civil buildings in White River State Park, exhibits in the programmatic gallery spaces, and finally sculptures in nodes created within the main corridor. This design focuses on programming, making the architecture secondary to art. Neutral materials such as kalwall, Indiana limestone, steel, concrete and hints of wood, provides a blank canvas where community members can express their individuality, essentially interlacing the surrounding buildings within the community park.
